Christmas party nights 2012

Comedy, Fantasy And Film Coming To Bristol This Christmas

What do Harry Potter, stand-up comedians and stilt-walking creatures have in common? They will all be making an appearance at this year’s Bristol Christmas party nights, that’s what! You may be thinking that the flowery and elaborate stuff only went down in London, perhaps Manchester or Glasgow at a push, but that would be doing Bristol’s status as the cultural hub of the south west a disservice.

A hugely diverse set of venues such as the city’s grammar school, Jongleurs comedy club and the Paintworks complex will make up the Bristolian Christmas party landscape this December and it’ll be as if a circus has arrived in town. The first of these will be hosting A Hogwart’s Christmas, unsurprisingly an event that pays tribute to all things Potter. Don’t let that put you off though if you aren’t a fan because there’ll be fancy dress, photo booths, karaoke rooms, shoulder massages and casino tables in addition to meets and greets from various characters from the books and films.

Across town the Paintworks will be turned into a fantasy world for the evening, similar entertainment included but with the added extra of stilted creatures to meet and greet, glitter make-up artists, plus white drapes and icicles hanging from the ceiling.

Sides will be splitting at Bristol’s Christmas party nights in 2012 courtesy of a series of evenings held at the Jongleurs comedy club. These events include two stand-up comedy performances alongside dinner, Champagne reception and disco to finish it all off. Rumour has it that some of the nation’s top funny men will be making an appearance, poking fun at all things Christmas no doubt!

It would appear then that Christmas in Bristol is going to be offering something a little different this year. We salute the venues and suppliers of the city for continuing to raise their game year after year and hope you’ll be able to join us for one of these events this December!
