So we’ve put our heads together to come up with our top tips to throwing the party of the summer! Everyone has a different idea of what makes a great party, some say food, some say location and some say the entertainment...

But let’s start with the basics

How many guests do you intend to invite, how much are you looking to spend and where do you want to go? Budget, numbers and location are the key to the type of venue suitable for you and your guests, you’ll also want to think about the type of venue be it a grand hotel, outside space, landmark venue or roof terrace for example.

Secondly, save the stress and use an events agency

They will be able to provide you with impartial advice over a vast range of venues, entertainment and food options etc. to make your party one to remember. Take advantage of their connections as they can usually negotiate on contracts and elements of your event, ensuring everything runs as smoothly as possible!

What are you hoping to get out of the day/evening?

Is it as a thank you to your staff, are you looking to build rapport between teams, will it be a formal affair or do you wish guests to mingle freely at their own pace? All good questions to consider as this will give you an indication as to the type of event that will best suit your needs, from a formal sit down meal to a family fun day complete with bouncy castles to an informal barbeque on a gorgeous rooftop, there really is no limit here to the possibilities!

Now we can get started on the fun parts…

Food, what role does this play in your event, will it be the focal point of the evening where you wine and dine guests with a delectable 5 course meal or perhaps you fancy sampling a few dishes with a bowl food option.

Entertainment, how will your guests be entertained, will you be taking advantage of the summer days with a full on fun fair or giant garden games, or something more traditional like a live band to get the party started? Discuss with your events agency the pros and cons of photographer v’s photo-booth, live band v’s DJ for example, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.

Theme, will there be a theme, do you want a theme, are themes a bit tacky? A theme doesn’t necessarily have to dominate your entire event, it can be as simple or extravagant as you desire. Something as simple as lighting can change the look and ambiance in any event space.
