It really is a taste of the buzzing and vibrant city without the hefty airfare and the long flight!

But firstly, we’re going to have to get your taste buds prepared for the upcoming Christmas party, so what better way to do so than exploring some of New York’s most popular foods? Here, we’ve rounded up our six favourite foods from this grand city. So sit back, relax and enjoy some serious foodspiration right here.

Burger and fries

You simply can’t think of the Big Apple without conjuring up the image of the classic stateside meal of burger and fries. After all, is there really anything better than a big succulent burger that’s bursting with flavour, loaded with cheese, bacon and salad, drizzled in burger sauce and sandwiched between a hearty bap?

Oh and don’t forget the delicious salted French fries, a staple accompaniment to this meal. Wash it all down with a bottle of coke or an ice cream milkshake for that true New York experience! We know it’s not the healthiest option out there, but a treat here and there doesn’t go a miss right?

Club Sandwich

Ideal for a main, why not try a delicious New York club sandwich? It’s a hearty one that’s bound to fill you up, but if you’ve never had one before, then here it is for you in a nutshell. It’s a sandwich tower that’s stuffed full of filling which includes the likes of meats such as chicken or bacon (or both!), lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise – it’s normally two layers of filling between three slices of toasted bread, that’s cut into quarters and held together by cocktail sticks. Sounds pretty darn good to us!

New York Bagel

We love a good bagel – after all, who doesn’t? The New York style bagel does not disappoint!  Go for the hot salt beef with pickled cucumber and English mustard, or perhaps you’d prefer opting for some seriously scrumptious smoked salmon with a liberal layer or two of cream cheese that’s complete with a squeeze of lemon and black pepper? Totally delicious and filling too!

Hot Dogs

Roll up! Hot dogs, get your hot dogs! It’s a common sound from the street food sellers of the city, so why not enjoy making your own New York style hot dog to get your senses warmed up for this brilliant themed Christmas party? The hot dogs from this city usually consist of either all beef or pork sausage, that’s drizzled with a spicy brown mustard and either sauerkraut or onions sautéed with tomato paste. Team it with a beer and you’re good to go!

Eggs Benedict

Alleged to have originated from New York, this tasty option was thought to have been created by Lemuel Benedict, a wall street banker who was hopeful in finding the cure for his hangover. The dish is comprised of two English muffin halves, which are topped with Canadian bacon, a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce – it’s the perfect brunch solution!

Of course, we needed a sweet dish on our list to nicely round things off, and what better option to go for than a traditional slab of mouth-watering New York style cheesecake?  It’s got to be the vanilla baked cheesecake for us – this authentic creamy dessert is the perfect addition to any table!
