Christmas party. London. 2011. Four words that you wouldn’t imagine being on too many people’s lips at the start of August, the height of summer holiday season. Harrods, the famous London department store, clearly disagrees. Last week they launched their Christmas World section, weeks earlier than in previous years, citing a strong interest from foreign tourists as being the key deciding factor. The store’s gift buyer Geraldine James said: “Christmas is coming earlier each year, I can see a time when we offer a Christmas collection throughout the year.” The company posted a video (Harrods Christmas Launch) which certainly gets our festive juices flowing!
They aren’t the only ones gearing up for the festive season whilst a sizeable portion of the population is still catching rays on the beach. We’ve now passed the 100 mark for shared London Christmas parties in 2011 and the list looks set to grow further still. Nowhere else in the UK is displaying such a huge range of Christmas party themes and most importantly prices. In 2011 we really have got something for everyone. Corporations with many hundreds of employees and sizeable budgets can live it up with a London Christmas party at the Gherkin or party with the stars at Madame Tussauds, whereas for under thirty pounds a head smaller groups can join up with our popular Thames Disco Cruise and while away the hours sipping drinks and tucking into sumptuous cuisine as London’s twinkling lights pass by outside.
According to James, minimalist Christmas decorations of previous years have now fallen out of favour with the public; bright colours, glitter and golden decorations are all tipped to be festive favourites this year. This notion has thankfully rubbed off on all of our wonderful corporate Christmas parties venues and suppliers in the capital, with unbelievable lighting themes set to punctuate London Christmas party proceedings in 2011. We suggest getting yourselves down to Knightsbridge and experiencing the festive fever before anyone else!
